7 September 2026, Webinar – EBC Annex 97/Cities TCP Task 5 “Sustainable Cooling in Cities”: Learnings from the State-of-the-Art Report
The impact of climate change is increasingly felt in cities, where extreme weather events such as prolonged heat waves are exacerbated by the urban heat island effect. With more than 55% of the world's population residing in cities, it has become crucial to address the climatic challenges in urban areas. This urgency has led to the development of the new Annex "Sustainable Cooling in Cities," which focuses on implementing climate actions in urban agglomerations.
At the beginning of this project, the State-of-the-Art Review summarizes current development of sustainable urban cooling strategies and policy practices from 13 cities.
This webinar will present selected cooling strategies, give an overview of the status of methods to assess urban cooling solutions as well as current city policies promoting sustainable cooling in urban environments.
This webinar is organized by AIVC & venticool in collaboration with IEA EBC Annex 97/Task 5. The webinar is facilitated by INIVE.
