The Belgian Building Research Institute
The Belgian Building Research Institute (WTCB-BBRI-CSTC) is the collective research institute at the service of the Belgian building industry (65 000 building contractors). Its Directorate for Scientific Research covers the various fields of the building science.
BBRI's Department of Building Physics, Indoor Climate and Building Services (30 staff members) has a large experience in energy studies and in monitoring and modeling buildings with regard to the energy performances, indoor climate and ventilation aspects. BBRI also has a strong involvement in the Belgian building practice through its technical committees and its advisory service giving about 25.000 advises per year to the building professionals. The institute is a key role player in energy and ventilation regulations at national and regional level and in the standardisation activities at Belgian and European level.
BBRI has also experience in several EEIG's (e.g. ENBRI) . BBRI assumes at present the management of the PASLINK EEIG (created in 1994 with activities in the field of performance assessment of building components under real weather conditions), of the EUROKOBRA EEIG (software and databases in relation to thermal bridges) and of the INIVE EEIG (created in May 2001 and actually operating agent of the AIVC).
